What is it?
Academic Pentathlon is an academic competition hosted by Stanislaus County Office of Education. There are five events (tests) that all participants must complete: Language and Literature, Math, Social Studies, Science, and Fine Arts. The Language and Literature test includes an essay component. Three students from each team will participate in the Speech competition. Nine students will compete in the Super Quiz competition which is like a game show.
When is It?
Academic Pentathlon takes place in the Spring; likely in April 2021.
Can I attend?
Unfortunately, due to the ongoing Pandemic it is unlikely that the competition will be held in person this year.
How Will You Prepare?
We are fortunate to be able to offer Academic Pentathlon as an elective. This means that students will not be asked to commit to after school practice. The team will meet every day as part of their regular class schedule. We will study the Pentathlon curriculum, practice writing skills, develop public speaking skills, and periodically take tests on the material to measure knowledge and ability.
What Can I do To Help?
The best way to help out is to LOUDLY and REGULARLY encourage your pentathlete! If there are any opportunities to volunteer or chaperone, you will be notified.
